Formed in a bedroom studio in early 2013, Flamingo is an Adelaide based three-piece Indie/Electronica band consisting of members Kacee Heidt, Oliver Kirk and Benny Tamblyn. With each member bringing to the table a diverse range of musical styles and influences, flamingo formed with the goal of creating a unique brand of electronica featuring both organic and digital elements with a penchant for live performance.
After recording a 4-track demo Flamingo began to establish themselves as an energetic live band and one to watch within the Adelaide music scene. Performing with a mix of synthesized drum loops, live keys, guitars and percussion along with soulful vocals flamingo quickly developed a strong following. In late 2013 Flamingo independently released their first true single ‘Heart, My’ on Soundcloud and Triple J Unearthed. Quickly discovered by Triple J presenter Lewi McKirdy, the homemade demo received steady plays from numerous radio stations and hundreds of thousands of plays online.
Flamingo started 2014 by releasing their debut E.P. ‘Heavy Steps’ which received glowing reviews from a wide range of blogs and further radio play setting the groundwork to take their electrifying live show to all corners of Australia. Supporting established acts such as Bonobo, Rufus, North East Party House and many more, Flamingos reputation as an exciting live band earned themselves the opportunity to play sets at Splendor in the Grass, Groove in the moo and as the headline support for The Kite String Tangles national tour. Flamingo have since signed with record label Etc. Etc., releasing their most recent stand alone single ‘Drip Away’.
After a successful debut national tour 2015 has seen Flamingo put pen to paper and knuckle down in a bid to create their first extended release.
